NEW YORK: Year(s) of Accessible Fashion

Prabal Gurung recently announced the launch of a line of  t-shirts to expand his eponymous brand's S/S 2012 collection - a move that mirrors some of JWT's consumer spending predictions for the coming year.

Great news for my credit rating, but I can't help but question: Is Fashion truly Fashion, if it isn't somewhat aspirational?

When your client list includes film stars and first ladies, it's hard to believe there's any pressure to conform. But while he follows in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander Wang and the Mulleavy sisters (just a sampling of designers who have launched extremely successful moderately-priced lines), Prabal Gurung is set apart by the upcoming venture's attention to design.
Based on his highly-acclaimed S/S 2012 collection, the T-shirt line will feature some of the actual prints used.

Said to be available in stores from March, what people can look forward to is anything but a branded-piece of cotton.
