Emma Watson has been a very busy girl lately. Not only is she filming the last part of the Harry Potter series and assuming her responsibilities as the new face of Burberry and Chanel, but she’s just launched a new fair-trade, organic line for the UK based online retailer People Tree.
The line is young, simple, and more than a touch preppy, replete with striped cardigans and collegiate blazers (with a badge sold separately emblazoned with “School of Fair Trade”).
The clothes are made in Bangladesh, India and Nepal from organic, fair trade cotton in order to create jobs and wealth for disadvantaged people.
As Watson says, “I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with…I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there.”
And the Oscar for fashion savvy and a humanitarian conscience goes to...
