Tony Blair is expected to be named advisor to luxury goods producers LVMH within the next few weeks.
The appointment comes as a shock to many who are skeptical of what the former Prime Minister can bring to the company which owns Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Loewe and Fendi, among several others in the jewellery and wine sectors.
Others also consider the selection of the well-connected former PM, a strategic move which will aid LVMH's foray into emerging markets such as India, where bureaucracy and inadequate infrastructures make access to the country's $15 Billion luxury market rather difficult.
For now, neither Blair nor LVMH have commented on the issue; will keep you posted on when they do!
