During her career she played every character from the runaway princess in Roman Holiday (for which she won an Oscar) to "Wait Until Dark"'s troubled blind character. It's no wonder then, that items featured in an upcoming sale of actress/activist Audrey Hepburn's clothing are said to possess the same versatility, simplicity and style that made her a fashion icon.
Held in conjunction with Sotheby's, the sale will feature 35 dresses and accessories, with half of the proceeds channeled towards the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund and UNICEF.
A Givenchy couture cloque silk dress worn in the movie "Paris when it sizzles" (hadn't heard of it either), is predicted to fetch $25000, alone, while the Chantilly lace LBD worn in "How to steal a million"(also Givenchy) is estimated at $30,000. Ofcourse none of these comes anywhere close to the above black satin evening gown (also Givenchy!) from "Breakfast at Tiffany's", which sold for $807,000. Now thats iconic...
