LAGOS: Textile industry promising, but suffering under lack of patronage

A Nigerian governor has expressed disappointment over lack of patronage of the country's textiles. Addressing a team visiting from London-based Elliott Consulting Limited, Alhaji Sule Lamido said that Nigerian textiles were promising in terms of their uniqueness and sellability, yet continue to suffer in the face of cheaper imported fabrics and a lack of patriotism.
Despite being the most oil-rich country on the African continent, Nigeria continues to be saddled by economic issues, which Lamido claims are solvable by the development of such industries with a cultural, as opposed to global, focus.
