JAKARTA: Rudi Liem Spring 2010
Is it just us, or is contrast the new black?
Case-in-point, Rudi Liem's Spring 2010 collection for Jakarta Fashion Week. Flow meets structure; toughened, but with a dash of femininity so alluring, it feels like it's being performed.
Though asymmetrical balloon dresses leave something to be desired, we're loving the fact that every weave, fold and mold appears calculated and crafted to perfection; it's subjective artistry meets objective science.
Perhaps that is why, worldwide, contrast is playing a central role in so many of this season's collections. The marriage of two traditionally opposing concepts delivers just what the world needs right now - balance.
