Calvin Klein ads are known for (and recognized) by their raunchiness in the western world. However in South Korea, this recent one featuring actress Eva Mendes has been met with a collection of shock, confusion and, in extreme cases, digust.
According to a CK rep in the country, "We didn’t seek approval from the city... because it is not an advertisement but a display to convey our new products to the public." (Anyone else see the contradiction here?)
We've previously spoken about the concept of sex as a form of advertising. What are your thoughts? Do you think culture should be taken into consideration when unveiling such campaigns?
